The hotel at a glance
On our recent trip to Ireland we had the pleasure of staying at the Merrion Hotel, one of the most luxurious hotel in Dublin. It enjoys a unique location in the heart of the city and faces the Irish Parliament; it is located just a few minutes from the well-known shopping area of Grafton Street. The hotel covers a set of four splendid Georgian houses built over 250 years ago...
Upon our arrival we immediately felt the subtle charm emanating from these beautiful homes. After climbing the stairs giving access to the lobby, we discovered with amazement the beautiful living rooms restored in a Georgian style. A refined and delicate style in perfect harmony with the antique furniture, the fabrics with floral patterns and the color palette tastefully combining beige, slate blue, red and sage green. We admired at leisure and with great pleasure the beauty of the place that opens on a corridor leading to the garden and the rooms of the houses adjacent to the former home of the Duke of Wellington.
Our room, decorated with great taste was not only spacious but filled with light. Moreover, we could enjoy on the one side the view of the French landscaped gardens and on the other the view of the city which was just as beautiful. The bathroom in Carrara marble was marvellous and we had an assortment of Asprey products. Perfection.
At the Cellar, we tasted traditional Irish breakfast; the silverware sparkled on the table on which were set toasts, pastries, jam, fruit salad, bacon; everything was delicious. And of course we had a staff attentive to our needs.
After a long walk through the very nice town, we enjoyed a good swim in the 18-meter pool. In the evening we went back to the restaurant to enjoy a traditional meal. I must say that it was a really perfect stay.
