The Imperial New Delhi

New Delhi, India

Janpath, New Delhi, India

Ensconced in history but never a relic, The Imperial New Delhi’s a powerhouse of style, a restorative oasis in a city heaving with 22 million people.

A luxuriant haven drenched in white hues, punctuated by palm trees: you’d have a hard time believing you were in the centre of New Delhi, so refreshingly calm is the scene. The multi-award-winning hotel could easily double as an art history museum, with no less than three galleries dedicated to colonial and post-colonial art – the largest collection in the entire city, in fact. No super slick finishes or business-directional design here: it’s all rattan furniture, deep wooden tones, photographs of days gone by, plush sofas, marble and chandeliers. Old-fashioned charm doesn’t mean that there aren’t surprises in store, however: the Sufi-inspired spa is an original, stunning affair.

The best hotel we have ever stayed at during years of world travel. The hotel was magnificent in the 1934 building upkeep like time travel. The staff arranged for us the perfect trip to Taja mahal with our driver Ram who was excellent and our personal guide Shabbir who was terrific. Our only slight complaint was the quality of the bed that had a poor mattress and terrible pillows. The staff provided cushioning and feather pillows the second night which was much better. Otherwise a great hotel and staff.

Brilliant... The hotel is elegant and comfortable. We loved our room and thoroughly enjoyed the food. View at breakfast was not the best however everything else was wonderful.

I’ve stayed here before and that’s why I keep coming back. The staff are very professional and efficient and the spa experience is out of this world. I always love coming here.

Great experience this time! I had some issues with the hotel in the past with regards to their taxi service. My L Gem addressed these issues for me and this time there was no problems at all.

It's a really nice hotel. I stay there frequently so some of my comments about, for example, variety of dishes on the menu, are probably not very fair since I get tired of eating the same things! Also, there was a small bug on the rolling table they brought to my room for my in room dining. I told the front desk and the in room dining manager came up to my room with my next in room meal and apologised. He comped that meal. I had a dinner meeting which was well organised and we were very well served. I love the way the Imperial smells. It's one of the reasons I keep going back there. I think they could have better quality products in the bathroom; unlike the scent of the hotel, the bathroom products smell synthetic not natural. I also like the car service at the Imperial. Most of the drivers are very polite.

  • U.D.H.

One of the best places I have stayed in, an oasis in busy and hot Delhi

  • M.B.

Aside from the booking snafu the Imperial stay was fantastic. The hotel is immaculate and the staff are very warm and helpful. The spa is beyond beautiful and j had the best massage of my life there - the massage therapist Tashi was incredible.

Our second experience at the Imperial was as rewarding as the first time. The hotel is a counterpoint of tranquility and comfort in a busy city like Delhi. This is an example of the contrasts offered by India.

  • C.L.

Knowing this hotel since 1978! Very happy to stay there each time in Delhi. An incredible experience! The only hotel I know where you can book an inhouse art tour! Loved it!

A luxury, clean and beautiful hotel in the heart of Dehli, 5mins walk from Connaught Place and a few minutes from the metro. The hotels staff, food and drinks were all top quality and should I be back in Dehli anytime soon I will book to stay here again. Extremely impressed with all aspects of this hotel.

Best hotel I've ever stayed in. Thrilled that you managed to provide gluten free baked goods for breakfast - thank you!. The only thing that wasn't quite up to the same standard as the rest was the bath...quite ordinary.

Superb hotel. Warm welcome. Spice Route Restaurant is not really a good value for money.

An excellent hotel with efficient friendly staff. This was my second stay at the Imperial I am highly likely to return when I next visit Delhi and have recommended it to friends.

  • P.D.P.

Top Hotel ! For me the best hotel in Delhi. One downside : it is unacceptable for a hotel of this category to make a client pay for the WiFi.

  • L.L.G.

Great service and superb Hotel. Lovely staff. A little too much eagerness for bellmen all trying to get their part of the luggage.

  • A.W.

We were particularly impressed by all the hotel's paintings and works of art

  • N.B.

Our stay at the Imperial was a real pleasure. From arrival (security clearance) through to check out all staff performed to a high standard. The staff were friendly and, when necessary, highly informative (Pinki running th eArt tour was a fount of information and a delightful sense of humour). The executive chef in the Spice Route was a delightful person and prepared a most spectacular meal that was suitably accompanied by a choice bottle of wine. Daniel's staff were friendly and the music played was enjoyable but did not prevent conversation.

The Imperial is well situated in Delhi within walking distance to Connaught Place, the markets and Jantar Mantar. The public spaces are well appointed and very upscale.
