Of the 274 rooms at the Nizuc Resort & Spa, you’d be hard-pressed to find one that isn't picture-perfect. There are the dreamy Caribbean vistas, of course, that you’re privy to every time you look out the window, and inside, the decor of natural materials imagined by interior designer Alejandro Escudero is just as captivating. Local stone, mangrove and ziricote woods and an earthy color palette that establishes a tone of relaxed elegance. The rooms also have Mayan hieroglyphics that appear throughout, imbuing them with a sense of history. This is Mexico seen through a different lens, and adding to this dreamy escape is the stellar lineup of restaurants at the hotel. There is the Mexican-inspired cuisine of Ramona, served in a fine-dining setting overlooking the beach, and the more casual Cafe De La Playa. There is also a Peruvian lunch spot Ni and an Italian dining room Terra Nostra while the menu at Indochine is all about the exotic flavors of the Far East. Another highlight of the hotel is the ESPA spa, a Mayan-inspired temple of relaxation set against a breezy Caribbean backdrop and it’s an experience that borders on the spiritual.
