Slowly, the lodge expanded into a luxury resort, and in 2018, it was relaunched as a Four Seasons hotel, a castaway fantasy exclusive enough to have royalty checking in for an haute-couture adventure in the middle of the Indian Ocean. With 71 rooms running up one beach and down another, the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island is a charming combination of natural luxury and elegance. For a start, there is the handsome architecture of it where the rooms, which are not rooms at all but standalone villas, spill outside with a private garden and witty design aesthetics like Barbie-pink peacock chairs and furnishings dressed in tropical leaf prints. Then there are the amazing hotel facilities like its ocean conservation charity that offers guided snorkeling in the calm waters of the ocean, and an inland animal sanctuary where you’ll find birdwatching and activities centered around Aldabra tortoises native to the Seychelles. The hotel is also home to a spa with 5 treatments surrounded by the island’s exotic flora while elsewhere, restaurants like the poolside Claudine and the Lighthouse Lounge make the most of the magical and unvarnished landscape of Desroches with dramatic views of the shoreline.
