The Connaught’s Library Suite is a luxurious retreat for book lovers who value style and comfort.
The Library Suite is one of the treasures of the Connaught. Accessed from the historic part of the building, it comprises a master bedroom and second bedroom, each with an en suite bathroom, a guest cloakroom and library style sitting-room.
The split-level Library Suite was designed by the architect Michael Blair and sits on top of the new wing which he also masterminded, developed and built over a period of four years. Its doors open onto a large reception hall finished in white polished plaster, giving an exquisite warm marble effect to the walls, its floor detailed in marble with oak edging. Three side-lit marble steps lead into the library style sitting-room. To the right of the main entrance is the guest bathroom, with a wash basin carved from a solid block of marble and black marble walls, with infinity mirrors above.
The library style sitting-room is a contemporary space, filled with natural light from the feature skylight ceiling, and is decorated with contemporary artwork and lighting. The symmetrical layout is arranged around a coal effect gas fire and central state-of- the-art entertainment console. The library is subtly adorned with secret compartments, a bureau, bar and dining table. The bespoke furniture has been specifically designed to provide comfort when reading and enjoying the lavish facilities of the suite. The rug design is inspired by modern architectural plans, the fireplace by cubist art and sculpture. A secret door connects to the master bedroom
In contrast the master bedroom is in period style with exquisite Victorian plaster mouldings. The king-sized bed is finished in highest quality leather with built-in reading lights. The cabinetry contains a mini-bar, safe and large hanging facilities all separately illuminated. The drawers are finished in leather with glass fronts. The en-suite bathroom has large marble-panelled walls and a heated floor, his and hers wash basins and an extra large shower. The second bedroom has similar features to the master bedroom and may be used as a king-sized or twin-bedded room.
