Detailed description
Six marble columns from the Palacio Villa Magna in Madrid and the plan to build a unique, Tuscan inspired golf hotel initiated a project that has transformed into a renaissance-style palace situated on the Flamingos Golf Course near Marbella overlooking the sea with its own amphitheatre, ballroom, chapel, spa designed after a traditional Roman bathhouse, beach club (with Roman columns on the beach), and a unique and extensive collection of authentic Roman and 18th century statues and artefacts. Marble statues of Roman goddesses and gods, urns, sphinxes, pillars, fountains, and other works of art generously decorate every indoor and outdoor space of the villa. Villa Padierna itself, made of travertine olivillo marble from a nearby quarry, is a work of art and piece of sculpture.
Hotel Villa Padierna takes its name from the Count of Villapadierna – one of Spain’s last great aristocrats - whose bronze statue greets guests as they enter what feels more like a grand and elegant home than a traditional hotel. The layout of hotel spaces is also unconventional and is arranged more like a private home on a grand estate where guests explore and discover where the various rooms are.
A twenty meter tall glass-enclosed atrium courtyard serves as a lobby and a central meeting area where guest can sit and enjoy a drink or snack. The courtyard unites all guestroom hallways in the main building and is surrounded on the ground level by four hallways decorated with marble statues and Florentine frescos that lead into a series of public spaces.
